'Cong aiding infiltration for vote-bank politics'

Accusing the ruling Congress in Assam of encouraging illegal infiltration for vote bank politics, BJP national president Amit Shah on Wednesday appealed to the people of Assam to vote for the BJP in the forthcoming polls so that the eastern borders of the country can be secured.

Amit Shah addressed two public rallies on Wednesday-one each at Kokrajhar and Nagaon and said that the Congress bade farewell to Assam and Northeastern States during the Chinese aggression in 1962 and that it was due to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army that Assam is a part of India now.

On his arrival, Shah headed to Kokrajhar first to address the rally organised by the BJP’s poll partner Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) and said that Congress has always encouraged illegal infiltration into Assam for its vote bank politics.

“The illegal infiltrators, who had entered Assam and other Northeastern States, during the Congress rule, have spread across the State now. They have infringed upon the rights of local people, be it the youth from tea gardens or Hindi speaking community, Assamese or the youths of Bodoland. If the BJP and BPF-led Government comes to power in Assam we are going to ensure that there is no infiltration in Assam,” said Shah while addressing the rally.

He also hailed the alliance between the BJP and BPF as a historic one, which will go a long way towards development of Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts (BTAD) and Assam as a whole. “We have decided to contest the forthcoming Assam Assembly election together with the BPF. This is not a political decision, but a decision for the development of Bodoland. Based on this, there will be development in Bodoland in the years to come,” Shah said.

Referring to the statement of Jawaharlal Nehru during the 1962 Chinese aggression, the BJP president said, “During the 1962 war, the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had bade goodbye to the people of Assam and northeast. It is because of the brave soldiers of India that Assam is today a part of India,” he said.

later, Shah went to Nagaon in Central Assam and said that he has come to Assam with a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi-if we want to make a Congress free India, Assam has to be made free of Congress too.

“The people of Assam have been facing injustice since the days of independence of the country. If Gandhiji was not there, Assam would not have been a part of India today. Even as Independence also, the people are suffering as the Congress has opened the borders with neighbouring Bangladesh for their vote bank politics,” said Shah.

“If we want to make Assam free of these illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, there has to be a absolute majority government by the BJP, who only can secure the international borders of the state of Assam and save Assam from the illegal infiltration,” Shah said.

“The infiltration does not only snatch the employment opportunities of the youth of Assam and infringe upon the rights of the locals it also threatens the integrity and sovereignty of the country. It is only after the BJP formed the government at the Centre, initiative has been taken to stop the infiltration and a total of 7,000 infiltrators had been identified,” Shah said while appealing the people to vote the BJP to power in the forthcoming Assam assembly elections.
