Describing Congress as a party of ‘dramebaaz’ (theatrics), the BJP on Monday asked Congress Vice-President to engage in ‘substantive and serious politics’ saying that, so far, his party has been doing politics of ‘lie, corruption and neglect of development’.
In the backdrop of OBC leader Alpesh Thakor joining the Congress and Rahul (at a rally in Gandhinagar, Gujarat), attacking Goods and Services Tax as ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’, senior BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad lashed out at the party an claimed that a desperate Congress, out of power for 22 years, was indulging in ‘political gimmicks’.
“Since when Thakor was out of the Congress. He was a member of NSUI, contested from Mehsana and lost election and his father was already Congress Zila President...”, said Prasad dismissing the Congress assertion that the OBC leader had crossed-over to it in the poll-bound Gujarat.
“Rahul, your script writer is some one else but he had not his home work..”, said the BJP leader adding that ‘drama’would not have been enacted if adequate ‘home work’ had gone into Thakore’s background ‘as a Congress man’.
Taking a swipe at Rahul’s twitter ‘popularity’ and Bot controversy , Prasad said he may be ‘trending’ in Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Russia ‘but we will be happy, if you trend in India’. In the same vein , he said Indian politics was a serious business and the Congress leader does not relate to it. Recalling comedy films like ‘Jodi number one’, he quipped and sought to ask what happened to Omar Abdullah-Rahul ‘Jodi’ in J& K, Akhilesh-Rahul ‘jodi’ in UP and CPM-Congress ‘Jodi’ in West Bengal.”
Prasad said Rahul who never engaged in "politics of viakas’ need to come forward with ‘politics of conviction and substance’.
On the charge leveled by one of the Patidar leader in Gujarat that he was offered Rs one crore by the BJP to join the party, the BJP leader said Congress has history of ‘lie, corruption and neglect of development’ and recalled cash for vote scandal which allegedly implicated Congress.
Asked about the ordinance by the Vasundhara Raje Government that bars courts from taking up private complaints against public servants — ministers, lawmakers and officials — without its clearance, Prasad that he need to study it . He said the ordinance was against ‘motivated complaints’ with 73 per cent of them being not true.
