Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth around Rs 5,800 crore in the semiconductor sector, with the potential to generate more than 10,000 jobs, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Friday while inaugurating the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Summit 2026 at Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore.
The two-day summit has attracted more than 1,000 delegates and representatives from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Sweden, reflecting growing international interest in the state's semiconductor ecosystem. The programme includes eight panel discussions, five roundtables and six keynote addresses, along with stakeholder discussions on the state’s semiconductor policy and the MP Semicon Startup Challenge. Yadav announced plans to establish a Semiconductor Centre of Excellence to promote chip design, VLSI, research, innovation, prototyping and skill development. A Centre of Excellence for Photonics and Quantum Technologies will also be set up to encourage research in quantum computing, communication, advanced materials and deep technology. The Indore-Ujjain Economic Corridor will prioritise semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging and other high-tech industries.
The chief minister said the state had introduced more than 25 policies in two-and-a-half years to encourage investment.
Madhya Pradesh has received investment proposals worth around Rs 34 lakh crore across sectors, of which more than 30% have moved towards implementation, he added. The summit also saw the exchange of memorandums of understanding with five institutions to strengthen skill development, chip design, research, industry collaboration and investment facilitation. These include the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, SEMI India, Semiconductor Laboratory Mohali, the International Semiconductor Industry Group and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, Mumbai.
Letters of intent for land allotment were issued to five companies proposing investments of Rs 9,625 crore in projects across Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior.
These projects are expected to create more than 4,450 direct jobs. Seven companies were also offered letters of intent for office space at the Electronics Complex in Indore, with more than 1,280 jobs expected.
Yadav held one-to-one meetings with representatives of more than 12 companies to discuss investments in semiconductors, electronics, data centres, information technology infrastructure, health technology and creative industries. He assured investors of single-window clearances, faster approvals and affordable round-the-clock power. The summit also featured an exhibition with 57 participants showcasing semiconductor testing equipment, chip technologies, research and innovations.
Ten finalists selected from 25 startups in the MP Semicon Startup Challenge received awards totalling Rs 6 lakh.
