A churning process is on in Kerala’s political skylines as miniscule parties with one or two members in the legislature assembly are reworking their future plans viz-a-viz the two main outfits, the CPI-M and the Congress.
The Lok Tantrik Janata Dal led by M V Shreyams Kumar who owns the second largest Malayalam daily Mathrubhmi and many coffee plantations, is disgusted with the CPI-M because of the latter’s Big Brother attitude and denial of a Rajya Sabha seat to the former.
Shreyams Kumar is the son o late M P Veerendra Kumar former MP and a minister of State in the Deve Gowda government at the Centre, who shuttled between the Congress and the Marxist camps to suit the political convenience.
On Saturday, the LTJD will merge with the RJD od Laloo Prasad Yadav at a function to be held at Kozhikode. Yadav who has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for his role in the multi crore fodder scam and who has been granted bail by the Supreme Court following his ailments, is travelling to Kozhikode along with his son Tejaswi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar as well as the heir apparent to preside over the merger.
Sources in LTJD told The Pioneer that a deal has been worked out between the RJD leadership and Shreyams Kumar to nominate the latter to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. Since both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Shreyams Kumar are secularists to th core, there was no irritants to the merger process. The LTJD could continue to be in the CPI-M led LDF as the Marxists too are the constituents of the I.N.D.I.A front led by the Congress.
