CBI searches bank lockers of Pyari's wife, daughter

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday searched the bank lockers of Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra’s wife and daughter, the keys of which were taken by the agency during a raid at Mohapatra’s residence here on November 18 last year. Mohapatra himself called up media houses on Sunday to inform about the search. “The CBI sleuths opened the lockers in the presence of the concerned bank officials on Saturday. Nothing was found except some jewellery of my wife and daughter,” the former BJD leader claimed.

He further said, “I myself had requested them (CBI) on November 18 to open both the lockers, but they did not pay any heed to that. When I wrote to the CBI SP Sinha requesting again to open both the lockers in the presence of their officials, the search was conducted.” “My public image was at stake. Besides, my wife and daughter could not use the jewellery kept in the lockers as the keys were with the CBI. That’s why I had urged the CBI SP to open the lockers at the earliest,” Mohapatra said.
