CBI: Note bandi, Sudip's arrest just co-incidental

PNS

The CBI has made it clear that there is no relation between the arrest of senior Trinamool Congress leaders like Sudip Bandopadhyay and the anti-demonetisation movement led by Mamata Banerjee and others. There was no connection between the two incidents officials said adding the arrests were just “coincidental”. Bandopadhyay and his lok Sabha colleague Tapas Paul were recently arrested for their alleged link with multi-crore Rose Valley scam.

The officer said of the two major chit fund scams- Sharada and Rose Valley-probing the latter was easier as the Agency had evidence in hand. “Sharada scam was more difficult for the lack of enough proof” the officials said adding crucial evidences which could have worked as missing links had simply disappeared before the CBI took up the case following a Supreme Court order. The officials informed a number of other leaders both from the Trinamool and opposition outfits were on their radar and could soon be summoned for interrogation.
