CBI chargesheets Karnataka Minister KJ George in Ganapathy suicide case In a major embarrassment to ruling Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the CBI based on SC order which is investigating the death of DYSP Ganapathy who committed suicide has filed FIR against powerful Karnataka Minister KJ George and two other police officers on Thursday.

Former IGP (lokayukta) Pranov Mohanty and ADGP (State intelligence) A M Prasad have also been named in the FIR. George had resigned shortly after a Court at Madikeri in Kodagu district directed police to register an FIR against him and two top police officers in connection with alleged suicide of 51-year old M K Ganapathy.  Mangaluru DySP Ganapathy's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7.

Hours before his death, in an interview to a local TV channel, Ganapathy had said George and A M Prasad (IG-Intelligence) and Pranab Mohanty (IGP-lokayukta) were harassing him and they would be responsible "if anything happens to me."

BJP was quick to demand the resignation of KJ George who is the Bengaluru incharge Minister and a close aide of Siddaramaiah. Yeddyurappa said " I demand the resignation of KJ George who has been named as the first accused in the FIR filed by the CBI in DYSP Ganapthy's suicide case based on the SC order. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should ask George resign or otherwise we will have State wide protest against the Government which is shielding George." George ruled out his resignation and said  "I have been given a clean chit by the COD and I am confident of coming out clean in this also. The BJP has been demanding my resignation but I had resigned earlier .
