The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau challenging the bail of Telugu Desam Party MlA Revanth Reddy facing charges of bribing a nominated MlA.

Revanth Reddy and two other accused in cash-for-vote scam were granted conditional bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday. But the ACB moved a petition before the Supreme Court opposing the release of the accused on the ground that the investigations were in a crucial position and the accused were powerful enough to tamper with the evidence.

Dismissing the petition the apex court said that it can consider it only if an accused gets the bail a day after the arrest. The court noted that Revanth Reddy and others were in jail for one month.

Prominent senior lawyer Kapil Sibal represented the ACB and argued in favour of cancelling the bail.

The High Court had granted the bail on personal bond of Rs5 lakh each and two sureties of the like amount each. Reddy was asked to remain confined to his constituency of Kodangla in Mahbubnagar district, not to leave the country and surrender his passport to the court.

However, Revanth Reddy landed in another controversy soon after he came out of Charalapally jail in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

As he was taken from jail to the TDP office in a big procession Hyderabad Police booked a case against him for defying prohibitory orders. Two other cases were also booked at various police stations against him for his alleged provocative speeches after his release.

Revanth Reddy, who is the deputy leader of the TDP in the Telangana Assembly threatened to topple the TRS Government in the State and throw Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family out of politics.
