The Ghaziabad Forest Department has registered two criminal cases against three Municipal Corporation officials for causing damage to trees and concretising the soiled ground surface causing harm to the city’s biodiversity.

The sources in the department said that Akash Vashishtha, an environmentalist, lodged a complaint with the department in which he stated that over 208 trees of the city forest were damaged due to deep submergence of sewage water which was overflowing from a drain that discharges waste into the Hindon River.
