The agitating Jat leaders have petitioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking cancellation of membership of Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini, who allegedly indulged in hate speeches against them, from the Parliament.

They also demanded that the issue of hate speeches by Saini should be sent to Ethics Committee of Parliament. Jat leaders have urged the Centre to direct the State Governments of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan (Dholpur and Bharatpur districts) to provide reservation to the Jat community under OBC category and bring a legislation in Parliament.

With the ongoing Jat stir entering its 11th day, the agitators, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakash Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS), raised slogans demanding reservation in education and Government jobs. The agitating Jat community members on Wednesday protested in northwest Delhi’s Savda Ghevra Mod on Rohtak Road.

“Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini should be put behind bars for  indulging in planned assault on the people of Jat community before and during the Jat agitation through OBC brigade formed by him. The matter of Saini should be sent to Ethics Committee of Parliament and his membership should be abolished,” the petition said.

The ABJASS had last week announced holding a series of protests on Delhi's border areas in support of the quota agitation by Jats in Rohtak which remained peaceful so far. The protests by Jats in border areas of Delhi assume significance in view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. Over 100 seats in West UP go to polls on February 11 and February 15. Earlier, the Jats held protests in Narela and Mahipalpur areas in Delhi raising similar demands.

The petition alleged “injustice and atrocities” against Jats by the Haryana Government and sought the PM's intervention for fulfilling the promises made with the community with regard to providing them benefits of reservation.

"We are holding peaceful protest in Delhi in support of reservation for Jats and those agitating in Haryana over the issues. Similar protests will be held in border areas of Delhi including at loni Border (February 12) and Bawana (February 14),” said Yashpal Malik, president of ABJASS. The demonstrators have demanded the Centre and the Haryana government release Jat youths in jail for violent agitation in Haryana in February 2016, and compensation and jobs to families that lost their members in the agitation.

According to the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Haryana had suffered a loss of estimated of Rs 34,000 crore due loss of economic activity and private properties in 2016 while ASSOCHAM had estimated loss of Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore by way of loss to public and private property, and halting trade, industry, small business and transport.
