Buses remain off roads, Maoists torch forest dept godown

SR

On the second day of the ‘Jan Pituri’ week observed by Maoists on Thursday wheels of vehicles bound for Bijapur, Konta, Narayanpur and other areas remained off the road even as Maoists torched godown of Forest department at Farasgaon leading to loss of lakhs besides causing panic in the area.

Notably, Maoists are observing Jan Pituri week from June 5 to 11 during which bus operators are not plying their vehicles specially bound to Bijapur, Konta, Narayanpur, Bhairamgarh, Bhopalpatnam, Orchha and other areas fearing Maoist violence.

This led to great difficulty to people in reaching their destination.

Since the railways too have decided not to run the lone passenger train running between Vishakhapatnam to Kirandul beyond Jagdalpur, passengers were forced to travel by bus from Jagdalpur to Kirandul.

Operation of

buses on routes like Jagdalpur to Sukma-Konta, Bhairamgarh, Bhopalpatnam, Narayanpur, Narayanpur to Abujhmar, Orchha, Narayanpur to Antagarh, Rawghat to Bhanu pratappur, Pakhanjur and Durg, Dantewada to Sukma via Nakulnar-Gadiras and others did not ply as also the Maoists  cut the road link by digging and felling trees on Geedam to Bijapur road.
