PNS

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to preside over a day-long “Chintan Shivir” at the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi on Thursday. The session will focus on crucial topics such as cyber security, modernisation of the armed forces, and related matters.

This high-level brainstorming session follows a series of meetings held last month by various departments under the Ministry of Defence, including the Department of Defence (DoD), Department of Defence Production (DDP), Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). During these sessions, officers discussed critical issues and explored ways to enhance productivity. Eminent subject matter experts were invited to address the officers and share their insights. During the ‘Chintan Shivir’ on Thursday, Rajnath Singh will review the key takeaways from the previous brainstorming sessions. The focus will be on implementing the recommendations that emerged from these discussions.

The day-long meeting will be attended by Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Manoj Pande, Defence Secretary  Giridhar Aramane, and other senior civil and military officials, according to defence ministry officials.

The themes covered during the previous sessions included cyber security challenges to national security, capacity building in defence acquisitions, enhancing production and defence exports, and promoting self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta).

The discussions also addressed training and operational issues aimed at achieving greater synergy, modernization and capability enhancement of the armed forces in strategic domains, as well as measures to identify and abolish colonial practices and obsolete laws.

The ‘Chintan Shivir’ provides a platform for in-depth discussions and strategic planning, allowing the Ministry of Defence to address key challenges and chart a course for the future. The outcomes of this session are expected to contribute to the strengthening of India’s defense capabilities and the overall security of nation.
