Within hours of CBI arresting Trinamool Congress MP Srinjoy Bose for his alleged involvement in the Saradha chit fund scam, a belligerent party leadership descended on a confrontation path threatening to take the BJP and its “tool of vendetta” head on.
“The BJP is walking the same path as the Congress. like the UPA-II they have made the CBI a tool of political vendetta. Srinjoy Bose’s arrest is a glaring example,” said party general secretary and State Minister Partho Chatterjee adding the party workers would soon hit the streets and “face situation politically.”
Chatterjee’s press statement came almost in tandem with inside reports that the CBI had summoned another Trinamool Congress MP from Rajya Sabha Ahmed Hasan Imran to investigate into his alleged role in the Saradha scam. Imran had been asked been asked to report at the CBI office at the CGO complex in Kolkata on Saturday.
Pouring venom on the central intelligence agency a fuming Chatterjee who edited the Trinamool mouthpiece before Srinjoy Bose said, “Even the Supreme Court has questioned the credibility of the CBI” adding “it will hardly matter if such a dishonest agency is dissolved.”
He added, “the Trinamool will decide on its next course of action in the workers’ conference at the Netaji Indoor Stadium” on Saturday adding “we will issue instructions to our party workers as to how to handle the situation,” even as the political circles feared government-sponsored political comontions.
Out of the several politicians either summoned or arrested by either ED, CBI or SFIO probing the multi-crore scam affecting 17 lakh people at least ten names are of Trinamool politicians. They include: party MPs, Kunal Ghosh, Srinjoy Bose, Vibek Gupta, Hasan Imran, Shyamapada Mukherjee, Madan Mitra, Asif Khan and Rajat Majumdar. Pro-Trinamool artist Subhaprasanna has also been summoned and questioned.
