PNS

Caretaker Chief Minister and  BJP leader  Basavaraj Bommai,  a front-runner for the post of  the Leader of the Opposition  in the newly-elected Karnataka Assembly, on Monday  met  RSS leaders and discussed with them  the ways to reorganise and revamp the party organisation following the electoral  setback  on May 13. He said State President  Nalin Kumar Kateel and other state  leaders would also hold discussion  on the poll defeat.   Central leadership would be taking a call to revamp the organisation in Karnataka with a sharp eye on the Lok Sabha poll which are only 10-11 months away. BJP had won 25  out of 28 Lok Sabha seats from Karnatka in 2019 Lok Sabha poll and contributed substantially to its overall tally. This was Bommai’s first visit to the BJP’s ideological parent organisation’s state headquarters ‘Keshava Krupa’  in Bengaluru  after the poll results on last Saturday.

“We have discussed the overall poll results. We have also discussed how to organise the party in the days to come with the guidance (of RSS). Our state President (Nalin Kumar Kateel) and leadership will also hold discussions, and after that we will discuss on how to organise the party in the days to come,” Bommai told r newspersons  as he emerged from the RSS office in the State Capital. Bommai said on Sunday that the Karnataka BJP has decided to do a detailed analysis of the overall poll results and also constituency-wise statistics, to find out the reasons for the party’s poll debacle.

Refuting the Congress’s claim that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s defeat, he said multiple factors have contributed to the party’s performance and they will all be analysed; a meeting of all newly-elected members and candidates will be held soon in this regard.
