Bodh Gaya blasts: NIA court frames charges against three

PNS

A designated NIA court in Patna on Friday framed charges against three persons, including Haider Ali alias ‘black beauty’, for their alleged involvement in Bodh Gaya serial blasts.

Besides Haider, the court also framed charges against Taufqiue Ansari and Mujibullah under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The trio was chargesheeted in September for their alleged involvement in serial blasts at Mahabodhi temple complex in Bodh Gaya. In its chargesheet, the NIA had claimed the bombings were done by Ali and others to avenge the alleged atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Buddist-majority Myanmar.

To unravel the conspiracy, the agency had relied on scientific tests including forensic tests and DNA fingerprinting. The chargesheet alleged that the accused persons had undertaken five reconnaissance trips to Bodh Gaya to study the security arrangements and then decided the exact locations for planting the bombs.
