The BJP will “not step back and rest” even after the grueling Assembly polls to five States and rather move on to its next phase of imparting training to its legislative members and leaders across the country. The party will train MPs, MlAs and representatives from cooperative societies and municipalities in management skills including digital presentation, communication, public dealing and awareness creation about government programmes and welfare measures. The BJP had earlier trained 15 lakh of its cadres in 2015 after its membership drive saw a ‘world record’ , swelling its ranks to the 11-crore mark.
The BJP will now organise similar camps for its elected MPs, MlAs, panchayat, cooperative and municipal members and representatives and even the government nominees to the various public sector units.
Ram Bhau Probodhini and Surya Institution - the two BJP think tanks - would assist the training exercise. BJP has made ‘training course’ essential for the members wanting to land any future posts in the party.
This will be a follow up to its massive exercise of training to its new members at mandal, district and State levels in around 12,000 camps spread across the country around two years ago. The camps were then attended and addressed by top party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These camps numbering 11,000, ran for about three months.
The post-poll training phase would involve training in the discipline of managing work and time, communication, public speaking and perfecting interactive skills besides effective articulation of government plans and programmes to a range of media in the country.
The camps will have in attendance motivational speakers who would provide general and specialised tips to the participants in transcending mental hurdles or barriers to achieve goals or the set targets.
like in the training camps devoted to the cadres earlier, teachers from ‘nationalist schools of thought’ would deliver lessons in the history of country, ideology and party’s “struggles” and “victories” in its “long march” since the time of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951. Mahatma Gandhi and Vivekananda would be the part of the training syllabus.
The camps may see attendance of CMs from BJP-ruled states, senior ministers and party’s top leaders . Even personal assistants of political leaders and their office staff may hone their management and communication skills.
“The BJP does not have the luxury of being a professional party like Congress, SP, RJD and others. Ours is an ideology-driven party and members are not meant for electioneering only. We need to consolidate this exercise by transforming members into real cadres,” said P Murlidhar Rao, BJP national general secretary, who was earlier in-charge of organising training camps in all the States.
