BJP responsible for under-development in Jharkhand: Cong

Responding to Sunday’s jibe of Narendra Modi on the Congress, the PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat has blamed the BJP for keeping Jharkhand underdeveloped. Addressing media on Monday, Bhagat said that the BJP leader’s self-proclamation was to cover the misdeeds of his party.

“Modi mentioned about Chhattisgarh’s development in his speech. He should know that it was the Congress who formed the first Government in the State and laid a strong foundation for its growth. While it was the BJP whose involvement in Jharkhand has resulted in its underdevelopment. Modi was in fact ashamed about the incompetence of the BJP in the State who ruled it the most,” said the PCC president.

Modi in the ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ questioned why despite being blessed with so many natural resources Jharkhand was languishing and how important is its current phase,  to which he said that it was crucial for its future.

The Congress also citied fate of the MoU worth over `1.26 lakh crore signed during the BJP Government to set up several industries in the State. “Those are just on paper. Modi said Jharkhand buys power form outside despite having so much coal reserve. Whereas not a single power plant has been setup in the State during the BJP regime. He should apologise for that,” said Bhagat.

He questioned the “massive” sum spent on the rally for “arranging” the crowd. “He did not mention about real issues such as minority development, poor people and those of deprived sections of society. There was of course a good crowd that was arranged by using money but the entire rally was visionless. ‘NaMo’ would flop like ‘Shining India’ did in 2004,” he added.
