The Kerala Police on Tuesday submitted the chargesheet in the case pertaining to the brutal murder of BJP-RSS activist C Ramith (27) of Kollanandy at Pinarayi in Kannur district naming 15 CPI(M) activists including an area committee member of the party as accused.
Ramith, a truck driver, was hacked to death by a CPI(M) killer gang on the morning of October 12, 2016 in front of his house in Pinarayi, the native village of Marxist Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The BJP-RSS worker was attacked in front of his mother and sister who had come out of the house hearing the commotion.
The 900-page chargesheet was submitted in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Thalassery in Kannur district. Narayani, Ramith’s mother, and his sister are the main witnesses in the case. The police had taken some members of the gang into custody immediately after the incident. Six persons named as accused in the chargesheet are yet to be arrested. The killer gang had attacked Ramith in front of his mother and sister who had come out of their house after noticing commotion in the street. The spot where Ramith was hacked was just a few hundred meters away from the Chief Minister’s house, and the BJP leadership had slammed him for not visiting the victim’s family.
The young BJP worker was killed within 48 hours of the murder of Kuzhichalil Mohanan (52), a toddy shop worker and branch secretary of the CPI(M) at Valankichal, in Pinarayi itself. Ramith was the only son of BJP-RSS activist Uthaman, a bus driver whom Marxists had hacked to death at Chavassery in Kannur district 15 years ago.
