A day after lok Janshakti Party (lJP) sealed its alliance with the BJP to become a part of NDA, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday slammed Ram Vilas Paswan for having no political principle.
Apparently piqued over the new political situation in Bihar, Nitish Kumar hit out at the lJP chief for making alliance with BJP. “Its surprising for me to know that he has made an alliance with BJP. He has taken a U-turn and did what he thought was a better deal for him,” said Nitish. He also reminded that Ram Vilas Paswan had quit the BJP-led NDA Government in 2002 after the Gujarat Chief Minister was accused in the communal violence in the State.
Kumar also told mediapersons that he would set off on his Sankalp Yatra again from March 5. Interestingly, it was Nitish who had showered lavish praises on Paswan in January when Paswan had pitched in the option to take JD(U) in the then upcoming poll alliance with the Congress.
“Paswanji bahut aache aadmi hain (Paswanji is a very nice persons). We offered him the post of CM in February 2005 Assembly polls but he declined”, Nitish said for Paswan on January 19 earlier this year. He further had said that “in the assembly elections later in the same year [October 2005] we’d tried to have an alliance with his party but it could not happen”.
While reacting over Paswan’s move to have an alliance with JD-U and Congress in Bihar, Nitish Kumar even had said that he considered him as a nice persons “but questions arises whether he also thinks the same for us”. “He has to make a decision on what kind of alliance he [Paswan] would like to have”, said the Bihar chief minister for Ram Vilas Paswan over a month ago.
The political pundits of the state, however said, that politics in the country, has in fact become a matter of convenience and nobody or the party appeared exception of it.
“What Nitish Kumar has said on Ram Vilas Paswan appears quite ironical as he himself had made such political deal several times in his political career. In fact, there is severe crisis of political morality in politics today and nobody is exception of it”, said a poll observer Prof. S N Sinha.
Similarly, a seasoned journalists keeping an eye on Bihar’s politics for long said that “the issue is that Nitish Kumar has become nervous out of this alliance between BJP and lJP. He was not expecting it all to happen but it happened and it will have a far reaching impact on states political future”, said Ajay Kumar.
