BJP forms panel to visit 'communally disturbed' Howrah to assess situation

PNS

BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday constituted a three-member Parliamentary committee to visit “communally disturbed” Dhulargarh (Howrah) to assess the situation there.

The delegation will visit the State on December 24. West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh will join the team as a member.

The three members of the committee are - Jagdambika Pal and Satyapal Singh- both MPs from Uttar Pradesh and Rupa Ganguli, Rajya Sabha MP and former television actress of ‘Draupadi fame’ in the epic serial ‘Mahabharat’. Satyapal Singh has been a former police commissioner of Mumbai.

The BJP has charged the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) with spearheading communal riots in certain regions of the State.

It has also decided to appeal to  the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), while the Parliamentary party delegation will go to Howrah for an on-the-spot assessment of communal violence.

BJP national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh had earlier asked Banerjee to break her “silence” on the communal violence at Dhulagarh area in the State.

“The minority wing leaders of TMC led by lok Sabha MP Idris Ali are targeting Hindus. The TMC is unleashing violence especially in six districts where the BJP graph has shown growth in the recent times,” claimed  Singh.
