BJP considers looking beyond PDP

Mohit Kandhari

As the Peoples Democratic party chief Mehbooba Mufti continues to maintain stoic silence over the issue of Government formation, the State unit of the BJP on Wednesday discussed the possibility of forming Government in the State in alliance with another  ‘suitable’ partner to end the cycle of ‘political uncertainty’.

Though no names were dropped during the high-level meeting attended by BJP legislators, former Cabinet Ministers and senior leaders but insiders believed that the party cannot afford to wait too long amid growing unrest in the State in the absence of popular Government.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh remained conspicuous with his absence  during the meeting convened by the State BJP Chief Sat Paul Sharma at PWD Guest house.

Before the meeting two senior leaders of the State BJP Unit  including Dr Nirmal Singh met Governor NN Vohra in Raj Bhawan to discuss the current political scenario in the State.

A separate meeting was convened by the state RSS leaders on Tuesday to review the political situation in the State. It is learnt the State BJP leaders were snubbed by the RSS leaders  for their poor report cards and bad image in the eyes of the common masses in Jammu region.

Meanwhile, one of the BJP MlA’s who attended the two hour long meeting at PWD guest house told The Pioneer, “the State BJP unit cannot remain mute spectator  for too long hence the question of exploring the possibility of forming a Government in the State with support of any other political party was also discussed during the meeting”.

When asked to comment who else can join hands with the BJP in the State in the absence of PDP the BJP MlA said, “wait for some time and see yourself”.
