Gayaji (Bihar), Jul 26 (PTI) A woman in Bihar's Gayaji district has alleged that she was gang-raped inside an ambulance after fainting during a government recruitment test, police confirmed on Saturday.

The incident took place on July 24 when the woman, who was appearing for a home guard recruitment drive, fainted and was rushed to Anugrah Narain Medical College and Hospital. After regaining consciousness, she accused the ambulance driver and technician of sexually assaulting her.

SP (Town) Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said, “The driver and technician, identified by the complainant, were detained immediately. Their statements were unsatisfactory, so they were arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita.” He added that a medical examination of the woman has been completed, and further action will follow based on the reports.

The incident sparked political outrage. Union minister Chirag Paswan, while addressing reporters in Patna, said, “The incident is deplorable. The guilty may have been caught, but the administration is failing to prevent such crimes. The situation is frightening, and I regret supporting a regime that cannot ensure law and order.”

State Congress president Rajesh Kumar criticized the government, claiming that the incident highlights a “total collapse” of law and order. He assured that the Congress party would work to ensure justice for the victim.
