Bihar ex-PCC chief joins lJP

Amarnath Tewary

The former Bihar Congress chief and AICC member Chaudhury Mehboob Ali Kaisar joined the lok Janshakti Party (lJP) while a strong backward leader of the RJD Shakuni Chaudhuri flocked to the JD(U) along with his supporters and local leaders. Both the leaders showered praises on their new party leaders and attacked the previous party leadership.

Soon after joining Ram Vilas Paswan led lJP, the former State Congress president was pitched as lJP candidate from Khagaria lok Sabha constituency. Kaisar has been a three-time MlA from Simri Bakhtiayarpur in Khagaria district.

Kaisar also said that NDA was marching towards capturing power at the Centre. When asked on Narendra Modi prime ministerial capabilities and his alleged involvement in 2002 Gujarat riots, he said that though he could not be condoned for the 2002 Gujarat riots “but today development is the key word and we all shall move forward”.

“Thousands of riots have taken place under Congress and other parties rule. Pakistan which is an Islamic country also witnesses intra-faith strife,” he said. Paswan’s lJP recently became a part of NDA and was given seven seats to contest in the forthcoming lok Sabha poll.

The lJP, earlier, had declared party candidates on six seats but withheld Khagaria seat as Kaisar’s quitting Congress party and joining lJP has been talk of town for long. Kaisar was denied ticket for Khagaria seat by the Congress as under alliance the Khagaria seat had gone to RJD’s kitty.

The RJD has already announced name of Krishna Yadav who is wife of local strongman Ranvir Yadav as its party candidate from Khagaria. Both lJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag Paswan contesting lS poll from Hajipur and Jamui reserved constituencies were present on the occasion of Chaudhury coming to their flock.

Paswan, significantly, said that the “debate on secularism and communalism were nothing but poll ploy.” “Yeh chunavi hathkanda hai”, he asserted and said that it was development and confronting the pressing problems facing the country like unemployment, price rise and security have been the key words today to focus.

In another party hopping development, former Minister and strong backward caste RJD leader Shakuni Chaudhuri joined the JD(U) along with his supporters and local leaders. Shakuni Chaudhury is father of Samart Chaudhury who recently has engineered defection of altogether 13 RJD MlAs to the JD(U), though nine of them had returned later to the RJD.

“It was the RJD leader and party candidate from Madhubani Abdul Bari Siddiqui who had in fact engineered the poaching of 13 RJD MlAs at that time and had submitted the letter to the Speaker...I had no inclination at all about all this,” said Shakuni Chaudhuri who joined the JD(U) along with another leader Abu Kaisar.

Both the leaders took on RJD chief lalu Prasad for promoting only family members and deviating from the party’s social justice mantra. “Quitting of leaders like Ram Kripal Yadav is enough indication where lalu Prasad and his party are heading for,” alleged both the new entrants of the JD(U).
