The Maharashtra Government on Saturday granted Entertainment Tax exemption to Farhan Akhtar-starrer Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a biographical film on the life of legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh.

Making an announcement within days, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Farhan met Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat and sought tax concession for the film, a State Government spokesperson said, “The reason behind exempting Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a film based on international medal winner and ace runner, are to kindle interest in sports among the youth and promote the film co-produced by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC)”.

“The tax exemption, granted to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag under Section 6 (3) of the Maharashtra Entertainment Duty Act 1923 to the film, will be in force for six months,” the spokesperson added.
