There was jubilation not only in the Bengal BJP but also in several parts of the State following the swearing-in of singer-turned-MP Babul Supriyo.
Even as supporters of the saffron outfit in Asansol and elsewhere came out on the streets bursting crackers and playing with gulal State BJP president Rahul Sinha said “the State unit welcomes Modiji’s move to induct Babul Supryio in the Ministry as this will enthuse the workers and send positive message to the people of the whole State” hoping “he is a young and energetic leader and will definitely prove his mettle by working for his constituency more vigorously.”
Another BJP leader and the State’s lone saffron MlA Shamik Bhattacharya said “Modiji has not only inducted Babul Supriyo in the Ministry but he has rewarded the people of Asansol for their courage that they showed during the elections by coming out in large numbers defying the cold terror of Trinamool Congress goons and voting in favour of the BJP.”
The singer-MP had defeated Trinamool heavyweight and close Mamata Banerjee aide Dola Sen.In Asansol the people celebrated by distributing sweets, colours and crackers. “We hope Mr Supriyo will work with more enthusiasm. He has already been doing so,” Dr Indranath Roy adding “the Eastern Coalfield will definitely get a boost during his tenure because he seems to be a man of the people.”
