Bank defaulter to feel the heat: Modi

Having faced much criticism over his Government’s handling of the Vijay Mallya case, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted no bank defaulter will be spared even as he accused the Congress of opening banks for the rich during its rule. He said it was his Government that has tightened the screws on the “looters”, who were now fleeing due to fear of going to jail.

The Prime Minister also said that the money, which had been looted from the banks, belong to poor people of the country and assured to bring back each and every paisa from these looters.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing two public rallies one each at Rangapara in Assam’s north bank and Panchgram in Barak Valley for the second consecutive day on Sunday and appealed the voters to give a decisive mandate like the one given by the people of the country during the 2014 lok sabha elections and said that a decisive mandate in favour of the BJP in Assam will help develop Assam like any other part of the country.

“After Independence, the Congress had nationalised the banks and said that doors of the banks have been opened for the poor. However, 60 years have passed since then and more than 40 percent of the total population is yet to visit the banks. Congress had actually opened the banks for riches only. Now when I have tightened the screws on these riches, who had taken loans from the banks, it made them sweat they are seeing only prisons and are fleeing the country. But no one will be allowed to escape, I assure you,” Modi said while addressing the rally at Rangapara.

“The money looted from the banks are not of the banks but belongs to the poor people of the country and I am going to bring them back,” he said adding that he is also taking stocks of the banks who had enriched the coffers of the riches at the behest of the Congress.

“They have looted the country all these years. So I have opened PM Jan Dhan Yojana, where the banks are going to poor man’s doorstep to open their accounts and they are now connected to the banks directly,” the Prime Minister said.

“That’s why they are shouting now that ‘Modi is bad’, ‘Modi is worthless’. You can shout at me and abuse me but I’ll not let them succeed in their evil designs to loot the poor people of the country,” he said.

“I came to Assam during lok sabha elections and yesterday also I was in Assam. I can see that there is a strong wind of change blowing here, which will uproot the Congress in the forthcoming polls. The bad governance of 15 years will end and there will be a new sunrise of development,” he said.

“When you press the button on April 4 and April 11, keep in your mind the Congress’ misrule for 60 years. Press the button in such a way that BJP and its allies gets absolute majority. Never give an indecisive mandate, otherwise your future will be left insecure again,” he said adding that the people of India gave a decisive mandate to BJP in 2014 lok sabha polls and so now India is receiving wide applause everywhere in the world.

“Once the strength of the Congress was over 400 in the Parliament. However, that was reduced to 44 only and the same spirit needs to be shown while pressing the buttons in the forthcoming Assam election on April 4 and April 11,” Modi appealed.

The Prime Minister also took a dig at the lack of industrial development in the state and said that while industries are flourishing in other parts of the country, over 32,000 small big and medium size factories and industries have been shut down in Assam during the Congress rule of last 15 years.
