Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s attempt to make his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal feel “at home” on Sunday turned down by the Akali patriarch, who said to have making his own arrangements.
“Politely” declining the Congress led Punjab Government’s offer of a free accommodation to the five-time chief minister, Badal said that he was “thankful” to Capt Amarinder Singh for his “gracious gesture”.
“It is very graceful of him to make this offer and I thank him from the core of my heart for this. But I am making my own arrangements for stay. However, I value his sentiment highly and fully reciprocate it,” said Badal, in an official statement.
At the same time, Badal described the decisions, taken by the Congress government in its maiden cabinet meet a day before, as nothing beyond the policies and decisions already implemented by the SAD-BJP government “except a few cosmetic gestures like red beacons etc”.
“Almost 95 percent of the announcements are either repeat of old policies or are mere empty rhetoric,” said Badal.
