She may have survived the Mumbra building collapse, but uncertainty stares in the face of this one-year-old girl as she undergoes treatment at Kalwa’s Chhatrapathi Shivaji Hospital. For, there is no information as to her identity, who are her parents and whether they survived the mishap.

The girl is being treated for injuries in hands and legs, at the hospital where doctors attending on her described her condition as “stable”. “We are looking for her parents. We are not sure if her parents have survived the building collapse at Mumbra,” a senior heath official of the Thane Municipal Corporation said.

like this one-year-old girl who reflects the tragic human face of the Mumbra collapse, 37-year-old Imran Siddiqui has little to live or look forward to in life despite having survived the mishap with some fractures. For, 13 of his family members including his eight-month pregnant wife were killed in the illegal building collapse.

A native of Delhi, Siddiqui came to Mumbra some years ago in search of a job. little did he imagine then that his dreams of making it big in Mumbai would be crushed under the debris of the Mumbra building as it happened on Thursday evening.

Siddiqui was living in the ill-fated structure with his wife Shakila and 15 other family members, 12 of whom are dead. “Even my pregnant wife is no more,” he said, as he narrated the chain of events that unfolded after the sudden collapse of the building where he lived.

Siddiqui was inconsolable, when Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan spoke to him. “Hamare to sabhi log chale gaye. Ma, baap bhai behan, and bibi bhi. Muje kuch madad karo naa,” (I have lost my entire family including my wife...Please help me). Aapko toh malum hai. Meri bibi pet se thi aur woh bacche ke sathi chali gai is hadse me,” (My wife was carrying...This mishap has taken away both my wife and child), he told the CM.

Thirty-year-old Aamir Ali Sheikh, who was rescued by National Disaster Management Force (NDMF) personnel, now searches for his 9 family members, who are feared to have been buried alive under the debris of the collapsed building.

After having been trapped under the debris nine long hours, Shaikh was rescued by the NDMF personnel.

Shaikh, who used to reside on the first floor of the collapsed lucky Compound number 02, in Daighar area of Thane district, felt that the earth beneath his feet shaking before the entire structure fell like a pack of cards.
