The bureaucrats in Bengal have gone in a kind of tizzy with the Trinamool Congress Government making a large number of transfers: Some in "absurd fashion."
While four IPS officers — who had allegedly acted “without bias” during the Assembly elections following the Election Commission directives — have been sent to “compulsory waiting” with no specific charge and office so to say a number of IAS officers have been awarded comparatively less significant postings.
However the most remarkable among them seem to be the posting of Indivar Pandey the Principal Secretary, PWD. Pandey has been asked to continue on the post with additional charge but at the same time he has been transferred as the Resident Commissioner in Delhi leading some of his colleagues to wonder how an officer can function from two States.
While sources at the State secretariat at Nabanna said "this is only a temporary arrangement" inside sources said Pandey has incurred the wrath of the certain vested interests in the Government inviting for himself the difficult assignment.
"In the new scheme of things he will have to work both from Delhi and Kolkata. But how is it possibleIJ" an IAS officer said wondering "how much has one to bend backwards to please them."
The Nabanna sources however said Pandey could work from Delhi for a week and then come back to Kolkata and work from here for the remaining three weeks. "Whatever be the scheme of things, it seems unprecedented," a senior official said.
Besides, Pandey a host of other officials including Khalil Ahmed, Sanjay Bansal, BP Gopalika, Subrata Biswas and others have been transferred from their respective posts.
