As UPA crumbles, Nitish seeks prompt elections

Stating that the lok Sabha election should be held immediately in view of the total loss of credibility being suffered by the UPA government, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that he will not become an instrument or a part of the Jugadu technology of the Congress to give the Government a fresh lease of life.

In an attempt to end the speculation over the chance of JD(U)’s support to the UPA Government at the time of the “real” crisis, Kumar told mediapersons in Patna, “In my personal opinion, the present situation warrants immediate holding of the lok Sabha election”.

“When I say that the UPA Government will complete its full term through its Judgadu technology, many people get the impression that the JD(U) will extend support to the Government to prevent its eventual fall but everybody should understand that no body can make me a part of this technology”.

He, however, reiterated that the UPA Government will complete its full term due to its “mastery over the number game”.

Nitish Kumar said that the credibility of the UPA Government had reached at its lowest ebb and only immediate lok Sabha election is the way out of the present morass.

Nitish Kumar said that the situation has reached to a piquant level altogether when members of a supporting party of the UPA Government are themselves stalling proceeding of the Parliament,

The reason is also equally strange as an Union Minister had attacked the Chief of a supporting party in the filthy language, he added.

Not members of Opposition benches but Treasury benches are not allowing normal functioning of the Parliament, he noted.

The situation has reached to such a passe that the UPA chairperson had to seek apology from the Chief of Samajwadi Party, Mulayam Singh Yadav.

If all of these perplexities were not enough, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh describes the timing of the CBI action against DMK leader as most unfortunate, he remarked.

“What else you want, the UPA Government has lost all its credibility, warranting lok Sabha election in these circumstances,” he noted.
