life came to a standstill in most of the places in Nagaland due to the indefinite bandh called by some tribal organisations from Monday morning even as Chief Minister TR Zeliang has appealed to all sections of society for cooperation to resolve the present crisis through dialogue.

The indefinite bandh called by Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) and Joint Coordination Committee against the non compliance of Chief Minister TR Zeliang to step down for the death of two youth in police firing last month throw normal life out of gear in the hill State on Monday. While vehicular traffic remained off the road in most of the towns and villages, educational institutions, commercial establishments and government offices also remained closed during the bandh hours.

However, there is no report of any untoward situation reported so far and the bandh remained largely peaceful.

The Nagaland Chief Minister today addressed the people through a radio talk and said violence only begets violence and force only begets more force and violence.

“It is being increasingly recognised that violence is no solution and has no place in determining the future of mankind. let us put our heads together to build the Nagaland of our dreams instead of mindless confrontation and more violence,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the people on Monday.
