Keen to keep its personnel abreast with all developments regarding fight against coronavirus pandemic and save themselves, the Army has asked all serving ranks to install and use “Aarogya Setu” app of the Government for the duration of Covid-19 situation with due precautions while also advising veterans and their families also to use the App.
Giving this information here on Wednesday, Army sources also said “existing cyber security policies on usage of mobile phones to be adhered to by Army personnel while using the App,” while listing out several precautions. Service personnel are advised not to use the App in office premises, operational areas and sensitive locations. These directives come in the backdrop of some services personnel including the army and navy falling prey to Pakistan based spy rings who breached the smartphones of these personnel and extracted information.
“Personnel are not to disclose service identity including rank, appointment. Contact list of user should not contain any reference to rank, appointment or service,” they said.
