Anti-T rally leaves trail of bitterness

PNS

Save Andhra Pradesh rally organised by the AP Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association continues to be in the news for its after effects. The rally which was held in Hyderabad two days back has evoked a strong consternation among the supporters of Telangana.

Even the police have issued notices to its organisers specially APNGOs president Ashok babu for the provocative speeches by some outsiders in violation of the conditions imposed by the State High Court and police. Ashok babu has been asked to explain why outsiders like Gazal Srinivas and a student leader were allowed inside the venue and also made speeches from the dais.

The police in the notice said that many people who were not the Government employees were allowed inside. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kamalasan Reddy said that the action will be taken on the basis of the reply from the leader.

Initially Gazal Srinivas, a singer, was not allowed to enter by the police. But he managed to enter after a controversial IPS office Anjeneyalu intervened and took him inside the lalbahadu Stadium personally. The IPS officer was earlier figured in a controversy after he had ordered the use of excessive force against the students of Osmania University agitating in support of Telangana.

Telangana supporters have also lodged a complaint with the police against Gazal Srinivas for alleged disrespect to the national anthem by rendering it wrongly.

The ugly incident of beating up of a police constable in the stadium during the speeches also added to the woes of the organisers. Saifabad police station in Hyderabad has booked an attempt to murder case against the organiser in connection with the incident in which constable K Srinivas Goud was beaten up for shouting Jai Telangana slogans inside the venue. Apart from the participants of the rally, some policemen from Andhra region had also beaten him up.

Srinivas said that he had become emotion as speaker after speaker had insulted Telangana region and its icons making false allegations against them and ridiculing them.

Police also booked another case against the APNGO leaders for the attack on Osmania University Joint Action committee leader Balraj Yadav.

On the other hand the police have also booked a case against the supporters of Telangana for stone pelting against APNGO leaders in which one Andhra employee K Satyanarayana was injured. He was returning to Rajahmundry when the incident took place. He has been admitted to Apollo hospital. Congress MPs Ananta Venkatram Reddy and l Rajagopal have condemned the incident.

While the APNGO leaders were elated over the success of the rally, attended by about 40,000 to 50,000 people, Telangana Rashtra Samiti has come down heavily on the provocations during the meeting. Party leader E Rajinder said that it was a meeting of factionists and capitalists of Seema-Andhra regions. “Attacks on Telangana people during the rally show that why the people of Telangana can not stay together with Seema-Andhra”.

Encouraged by the success of the rally APNGO has threatened one more show of strength in the form of Million March if the Centre does not stop the process of bifurcation.

On the other hand Seema-Andhra Congress leaders were also planning to hold their public meeting in Hyderabad. But the show of strength by Seema-Andhra leaders does not seems to have had any impact on the Central Government. The Cabinet note on Telangana formation was ready to be placed before the Union Cabinet. Sources said that it will be done as soon as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi returns from abroad.
