Making a serious allegation against the Mamata Benerjee Government  in West Bengal, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday said "criminal and anti-social  elements are working as politicians" in the State and the bureaucracy " is  influenced by them."

Vijayvargiya, who is the state-in-charge of the BJP , told The Pioneer that  communal violence was a result of " Mamata's minority appeasement" policies and  breaking of law and order in Northern Bengal was also due to " the egoistic Chief Minister".

The BJP leader said he would be visiting 'the disturbed State' from July 22 to July 23 to review the organizational work of the party. Party President Amit Shah is scheduled to tour the state in September.

Rocked by communal flare-up  in North 24 Parganas district in Southern Bengal in the last fortnight, the  West Bengal has  witnessed  an increasing war of words between the ruling Trinamool Congress Party (TMC)  and the opposition BJP with the former also attacking state governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

The violence  also affected Northern  hills of Darjeeling and areas of Dooars and Siliguri terai contiguous to Darjeeling where Gorkhas want a state of 'Gorkhaland' to be carved out for them.  BJP which is attacking TMC Government for "mishandling" of Gorkhland issue, however, itself does not support creation of a separate state for Gorkhas.  The BJP leader said violence on the Gorkhaland issue and that in  North 24 Parganas and Basirat ( 50 miles north of Kolkata) are two separate issues.

"The unrest in the Gorkhaland issue continued because of the ego of Chief Minister who does not want to talk to Gorkha leaders", said Vijayvergiya. "State Government is not talking and if it is done the issue can be resolved."

Asked where does he think Rs the communally charged' State was heading to and whether law and order may further deteriorate, the BJP leader said alleged, "Anti-social elements in the state are working as politicians".Vijayvargiya also alleged, "Criminal anti-social elements have overridden  and  have influence over bureaucracy"  .He said the issues bedeviling West Bengal would be raised in Parliament during the monsoon session, beginning July 17.

A  BJP team, led by BJP's Vice-President and Rajya Sabha  member O P Mathur and lok Sabha MPs Meenakshi lekhi and Satyapal Singh, had sought to the communal violence affected  spots in West Bengal last week but was stopped by the  state administration on their track.
