Stressing on social sector initiative, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel launched a mega campaign against malnutrition from tribal-dominated Chhotaudepur in Central Gujarat on the occasion of completion of one year as the first women Chief Minister of the State.
The campaign aimed at abolishing malnutrition from the State, the Gujarat Chief Minister plans to cover each and every child to reap benefits of various schemes related to nutrition.
Under this campaign, all the children enrolled in Anganwadi will be covered, said Patel at a function to lunch the campaign, while appealing Anganwadi workers to ensure every child gets benefit of this scheme and not a single child left malnourished in the State.
“It is our collective responsibility to make sure that each and every child of the State gets good nourishment and becomes strong mentally and physically. Malnourished child suffers a lot mentally and can’t compete with the other children of his age,” she said, adding that more than 15,000 pregnant women took 108 emergency services under “Chiranjivi Yojana” across the State. She also appealed to pregnant women to take benefit of Rs6,000 for medical treatment.
Expressing concern over increased incidences of diseases like diabetes, breast cancer and womb cancer, she said that diabetes affects a person a lot and it can permanently disable parts of body and it is necessary to identify diabetes early and start a treatment.
Patel praised 25,000 doctors, NGO’s and UNICEF for giving support to State Government and continue to do so in making next generation mentally and physically healthy. She appealed people to take benefit of Central Government’s Jandhan Yojana, Pradhanmantri Jivanjyoti Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.
Gujarat’s Women & Child Development Minister Vasuben Trivedi said that the campaign started from Chhotaudepur will not only spread across the State but it would be model for other States too in near future.
