‘Prepared to take on any group including Aam Aadmi Party’
Picking up the gauntlet thrown by the Opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Amit Shah said that the party was prepared to take the challenge of any of the opponents in the coming lok Sabha elections.
“In a democracy, there is multi-party system and we are well prepared to take on any group including the AAP. The party leadership was working seriously and continuously to meet challenges posed by any political party,” Shah said while addressing reporters here on Thursday.
He held a three-day meeting with party leaders to strengthen the organisation at booth level and also reviewed the preparation for party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally in lucknow on March 2, Shah pooh-poohed the media survey showing big impact of the AAP in the upcoming lok Sabha elections.
“The surveys are never a real projection of the voters and we have full faith on the people of the country who will support the BJP in the next election,” he said.
Defending demand of sons and daughters of senior party leaders seeking tickets for the lok Sabha elections the BJP leader said that dynasty politics is only in the Congress.
“The son or daughter of Rahul Gandhi would be the future president of Congress. But in the BJP this does not happen. If any child of BJP leader is a potential leader and deserves ticket, only then he or she is given ticket and this is not dynasty politics,” he said.
Shah, however, refused to divulge whether Modi would contest the lok Sabha election from UP or from any other State. “The party’s Parliamentary board will decide on Modi’s issue along with the selection of the candidates for the lok Sabha elections,” he said, adding that the BJP would contest all the 80 lS seats in the State without going for any pre-poll alliance.
Referring about the snoop-gate issue of Gujarat, he said that police has already lodged the case of Pradeep Sharma and was investigating it.” The Commi-ssion announced by Centre to probe into the snooping issue is yet to take off,” he said.
The BJP general secretary, however, refused to make any question on UP legislators’ tour to foreign countries saying he supports the statement made by his party leaders.
