Aligarh Municipal Corporation area will soon be transformed into Women Safe City. About 100 crore rupees will be spent on this project from the Nirbhaya Fund. It will have special hostels, DNA and forensic labs for women, pink bus and auto, toilets, Asha Jyoti Kendra and many more.

Along with Aligarh, women of Hathras, Etah and Kasganj will also get the benefit. Aligarh is the second city in the state after Lucknow to be selected in the Women's Safe City list.

After the Nirbhaya incident in Delhi, the central government decided to make some cities of the country as safe cities. Cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal have started safety audits at every stage but earlier this year the central government decided to include more cities in this list. After the incident of Hathras, the commissioner took up the task of developing it.

In a safe city, the focus will be given to women's safety. Women police personnel will be given pink scooters and SUV vehicles so that they will keep an eye on the bad elements. A special pink bus will run fitted with panic buttons, GPS and CCTV. Women's power line capacity will be doubled. Pink booths will be built by which women will get sanitary pads. Asha centers and hostels to be built.
