Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has detained 61 suspected illegal immigrants, most of whom are believed to be Bangladeshi nationals, during a special operation conducted across the city ahead of Diwali.

According to the police, the detainees were allegedly living in India without valid documents. The authorities have initiated the legal process to deport them to their country.

The Ahmedabad Police said legal proceedings to send all those detained back to their country had been initiated.
