Malayalam movie megastar Mohanlal has showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Teachers’ Day speech which sought to spread the message that everyone should do his work with sincerity and honesty and derive happiness out of it.
In his blog titled “A Culture Called Work, Beauty Called Honesty”, Mohanlal says the message the Prime Minister gave in his Teachers’ Day speech was multi-dimensional. “One child asked Modi (during the interaction with students) whether he had ever thought he would become Prime Minister one day. Modi answered that he had never thought so,” he writes.
But Mohanlal says it was the last part of the answer which attracted him. “The Prime Minister said that one should not be dreaming of becoming someone someday. What you should dream is to do something sincerely. Keep on doing that something. Then you would become someone. Thus you should find happiness in what you do, he said,” the star writers in his blog.
“The last part of Modi’s speech forced me to think… It had a lot of dimensions. I saw that sentence as a message appropriate to be given to a generation which tended to grow instantaneously and being forced to assimilate a culture which made one do anything to become someone,” he says.
Mohanlal said he believed that this sentence contained some message which was essential for the modern times. “It is relevant to a whole range of things … from the immobility of files in Government offices, roads that are filled with potholes, corruption running into crores of rupees, waste disposal, communal riots, etc,” the filmstar writes in his blog.
According to Mohanlal, Modi’s message that doing things with sincerity and honesty is not only a principle of life but it is a culture also. “It is essential for a balanced social life. Kerala would not have been finding itself in the present pitiable situation if everyone has been doing whatever small thing he does with sincerity and honesty,” he says.
Mohanlal concludes the blog by saying that only the culture of doing things with sincerity and honesty which Modi speaks of can save the Malayalee’s life which has become unbearable due to several factors. He ends it with the words: “I hope that at least the next generation including my children develops such a culture.”
