Police arrested Mansukh Dhokai, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, who had contested lok Sabha polls from Porbandar, after a 17-year-old girl filed a rape complaint against him.

“A 17-year-old girl, who is a Class XI student in a city-based school, filed a complaint alleging that Dhokai had raped her four times and threatened her with dire consequences, if she spoke about the incident of rape,” Rajkot City Women's police station's in-charge police sub-inspector MM Jadeja said.

“The police arrested Dhokai today from his residence at Porbanadar city and brought him to Rajkot for interrogation," Jadeja said. Dhokai (59), a distant relative of the minor, whom she addressed as her “maternal uncle”, allegedly raped her at her residence last month, he said.

Dhokai had raped her in a hotel earlier and threatened her that he would kill her as well as her family, if she ever revealed the incident to anybody, the girl alleged in her complaint.
