Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national spokesperson and MLA Raghav Chadha on Friday said the Arvind Kejriwal Government has written to the Ministry of Railways and stated that without rehabilitation any such demolition is unconstitutional and illegal.
Chadha said the letter has noted that the BJP Government should provide houses to every slum dweller and if they fail then the Kejriwal Government will provide. “In this letter, the Kejriwal Government has given a list of 45,857 pucca flats which the Delhi Government can give to these slum dwellers for rehabilitation.
In its affidavit to the Supreme Court the BJP Government has noted that due to the slums and slum dwellers the railway tracks remain dirty, therefore,
slums should be demolished,” he said.
Chadha said BJP also submitted an Action Taken Report of the North MCD to the SC which also noted that due to Kejriwal Government demolitions of slums are stuck. He said that AAP takes these admissions as pride and this affidavit proves that Kejriwal is not only the Chief Minister but also the elder son to the families of the slum dwellers.
In its affidavit to the SC the BJP Government has noted that due to the slums and slum dwellers the railway tracks remain dirty, therefore, slums should be demolished,
Chadha said, adding before election, the BJP used to ask for votes from these slum dwellers by promising that no demotion will take place.
Chadha said “This affidavit proves that Kejriwal is not only the Chief Minister but also the elder son to the families of the slum dwellers.
He will take up every responsibility of the elder son and not allow any such eviction of the slum dwellers”.
“I want to tell the BJP that without giving rehabilitation the Kejriwal Government will not allow any slum demolition in Delhi. The way BJP is issuing demolition notices is unfortunate, unacceptable, inhuman and unconstitutional. We will not allow such demolition,” he added.
