AAP blames BJP for Red Fort siege by protesting farmers

Staff Reporter

The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday accused the central agencies and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) behind the incident happened at the Red Fort on Tuesday during farmers’ “Tractor Rally”.

AAP leader and Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha said that the people like Deep Sidhu infiltrated in farmers' protest and instigated the violence. The BJP sleeper cell agents like Deep Sidhu and Central agencies under the BJP government were behind Tuesday’s shameful Red Fort incident.

Chadha said that Deep Sidhu who is the mastermind of yesterday's violence has a close connection with PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. “The AAP condemned the witch hunt against the farmer leader and demanded that Delhi Police not to harass them but arrest the sleeper cell agents of the BJP who were involved in violence,” he said.

The Delhi Police which comes under the BJP government completely failed to maintain the law and order situation of Delhi, he alleged. "I also want to tell you that BJP agent and Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is trying to defame the AAP by blaming us for the violence. The BJP agent Caption Singh and Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta are defaming the AAP in a planned manner,” he added.

Tens of thousands of farmers broke barriers to storm the national capital on Tuesday, their tractor parade to highlight their demands dissolving into unprecedented scenes of anarchy as they fought with police, overturned vehicles and delivered a national insult hoisting a religious flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort, a privilege reserved for India's tricolour.

Clashes broke out in multiple places, leading to violence in well-known landmarks of Delhi and its suburbs, amid waves of violence that ebbed and flowed through the day. While there were no exact estimates of how many farmers were hurt, Delhi Police officials said 86 of their men were injured throughout the day. Of these, 41 were injured at the Red Fort.
