In a heartwarming display of humanity and dedication, the police in Prayagraj turned saviors for over 24,000 pilgrims stranded outside Prayagraj Junction station late Tuesday night. After taking the holy dip on Makar Sankranti, the devotees faced bone-chilling cold and long delays caused by thick fog disrupting train schedules.

The night saw policemen not just managing the massive crowd but going beyond their duty to serve food, water, and tea to the weary pilgrims until 3 a.m. Wednesday. Blankets and quilts were also distributed to shield them from the biting cold. Speaking about the efforts, ACP (Kotwali) Manoj Kumar Singh shared, “We saw elderly people and children shivering, some of them hungry and tired. It was impossible to stand by and do nothing. With help from NGOs and generous locals, we made sure everyone was fed and kept warm.”

Many police officers personally pitched in to ensure the smooth distribution of food and supplies. Sub-Inspector Ravi Shukla, who helped prepare and serve meals, said, “When I handed over a plate of food to a young boy, his mother’s teary ‘thank you’ made all the effort worth it. This is more than a duty; it is humanity.”

The chaos caused by delayed trains and miscommunication also left many pilgrims at the wrong stations.
