Eight accused in the 2006 Malegaon triple blasts case broke into jubilation after the MCOCA court on Monday discharged them of the charges against them in the case.
Pleased with the verdict, the accused — all of whom were present in the MCOCA court when designated judge V V Patil dropped the charges against them — were all smiles. They hugged one another and celebrated their discharge from the case.
Faroqh Maghdumi, a Unani doctor who is one of the accused discharged from the case, said, “From the day one, we have been saying that we are innocent. I had records to prove where I was and what I was doing. I had my patients’ record register. But at the last truth has prevailed”.
“We had faith in judiciary, we are confident that one day we would be discharged. We are innocent,” another discharged accused Raees Ahmed said.
Salman Farsi said: “All the charges against me were baseless. I cannot repeat the charges against me as they were all false....we were waiting for this day. As soon as we were discharged, we said Allah-u-Akbar....Allah is bigger than anyone.”
