3 TMC MPs show-caused

With a view to put a lid on future rebellion in an election year, Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress on Sunday formally slapped show-cause notices to three dissenting parliamentarians who had on Friday publicly questioned the leadership’s alleged “dubious and haughty” ways of functioning.

State Industries Minister Partho Chattopadhyay said “the three MPs — Kunal Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy and Tapas Paul — have been asked to explain their conduct,” adding the disciplinary committee was unanimous in its decision to “stop future dissent and anti-party activities right away.”

Incidentally, Ghosh the journalist-turned-politician who was earlier questioned in the Saradha chit fund case — and publicly alleged how he “was made a scapegoat in the case” — claimed to have shot off a counter missive to the leadership asking it to set up an inquiry commission to bring out the truth.

Though the Industries Minister who is also the convener of the disciplinary committee denied receipt of the letter Ghosh made things more awkward for the party high-ups saying he did not want to speak things out in the open “and hence as a sincere party man I will tell it all to the inquiry commission to save the party further embarrassments.”

Ghosh was grilled by the Bidhannagar Jt Commissioner Arnab Ghosh for the second successive day on Sunday. Curiously, the MP once a blue-eyed boy of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was summoned by the police a day after he and two fellow parliamentarians Tapal Paul and Shatabdi Roy told a public gathering about the “dubious ways of the top brass.”

“There is a limit to this drama of honesty,” Ghosh had blasted leadership alleging how he was made to bear the brunt of the whole multi-crore scam whereas the Saradha group chief Sudipto Sen had in a letter implicated the names of a host of Ministers and MPs.

Curiously, even as Ghosh came out of the police station on Sunday he expressed his plans of meeting the Press and to “reveal something before and if I am arrested.” He said “I may be arrested. If the police wants to arrest me I will definitely seek their permission to host a press conference as I have certain things to tell the people.”

This while top officials on Sunday conceded that Ghosh had given certain information and “revealed some names that are disturbing” and could open a new vista insofar as the chit fund probe was concerned.

Incidentally, Ghosh had on Friday claimed he could be eliminated “as I know so much about so many people,” adding he could be “killed in a road accident.”

Ghosh who along with Paul and Roy were reportedly in close touch with a section of the Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry into the ponzy fund deal going against the party line and the line of the Chief Minister.

Sources also said there were a senior Minister, a few MlAs and another two MPs who were waiting to revolt.
