Three passengers were gravelywounded as the bus in which they were riding skidded while racing with another bus in the busy Park Street crossing on Monday.
The incident happened around 11.45 am when one heavily crowded Howrah-bound bus of route no 34/A picked up speed seeing another bus of same destination (route no 41) near the Park Street crossing, police said.
It was then when in an attempt to save collision with a private vehicle, which suddenly came in front, the driver of 37/A applied break, they said.
Driver Mahadeb Mondal was arrested while the bus was seized, a police officer said, adding, “We have shifted them to a nearby hospital.”
