BCCI calls SGM over SC order: Report
New Delhi: Under pressure from the Supreme Court to implement the Justice RM lodha panel’s recommendations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday here to discuss the interim order passed by the Apex Court last week. The Court had ordered the Board and State associations to respond by October 17 whether they would “unconditionally” comply with the lodha Committee’s recommendations. According to a report in espncricinfo, this week’s SGM is the second such emergent meeting called by the BCCI in the last two weeks after the October 1 SGM, where a defiant BCCI board agreed to adopt some of the recommendations. Infuriated by the BCCI’s decision, a three-judge Bench warned the Board to stop issuing funds to errant State associations which did not implement the recommendations.
Both BCCI president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke are currently in Cape Town, South Africa, for the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings, which started on Monday and will culminate on Friday.

Nawazuddin-Ramleela row; sena stays away
Mumbai: Shiv Sena on Monday sought to distance itself from a row over its workers allegedly asking Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui to pull out of a Ramleela show in his hometown in Uttar Pradesh. “I spoke to Nawazuddin Siddiqui ji to convey that the party does not endorse the reason because of which he was prevented from performing at the Ramleela in UP,” Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray said. “The said person, an office-bearer or not, has not voiced the party’s policy and the party will not support such uncalled for actions,” he said. Siddiqui was in his hometown, Budhna, where he got in touch with the Ramleela committee and expressed his desire to perform at the event. However, he was prevented from taking part in it by some men claiming to be Sena members hours before his performance. They reportedly said he is a Muslim and faces a criminal case. An FIR was later registered against Sena’s Muzaffarnagar chief Mukesh Sharma and 19 others for promoting enmity and mischief.
