Modi to unveil statue on Kalam’s birth anniv
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the birth anniversary celebrations of former President APJ Abdul Kalam on Thursday, during which he will unveil his statue and inaugurate a photo exhibition on the departed leader.
SC seeks Centre’s stand on Archana
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to make its stand clear whether senior Tamil Nadu cadre woman IPS officer, Archana Ramasundaram, would be considered in future for the post of Additional Director in CBI. The apex court asked Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar to come before it with instruction as the officer, who is now the NCRB Director, was restrained by it to discharge function as the Additional Director of the CBI as she had joined the agency without being relieved by the Tamil Nadu Government which had suspended her.
DoPT Issues guidelines for SC appointments
New Delhi: DoPT has issued fresh guidelines advising appointment of candidates of SC/ST in Central Government departments should not be delayed for want of caste certificates. It has said that appointing ministry should seek report in this regard directly from the concerned District Magistrates. The move comes after instances were noticed by the Centre where the appointments of the candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC communities are with-held or delayed due to pending caste certificates verification.
Govt extends deadline for declaring assets
New Delhi: The Centre has notified new rules to extend by six months, till April 15 next year, the deadline for Central Government employees to file details of their assets and liabilities along with that of their spouses and dependent children, as mandated under the lokpal Act. This is the fourth extension in the time limit for filing the details.
Foreign Secy to hold talks on Abe’s visit
New Delhi: Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar will hold talks with top Japanese officials in Tokyo to finalise agenda and other details of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit here for annual summit talks. Abe is scheduled to visit India in the next two months to participate in the 9th annual summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
