Paul takes charge as Manipur, Mizoram Guv
New Delhi: Meghalaya Governor KK Paul was on Thursday given the additional charge of Manipur and Mizoram following the resignation of VK Duggal. President Pranab Mukherjee, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson, has accepted the resignation of Duggal from the post of Governor of Manipur and Mizoram. He was holding the Mizoram charge in an additional capacity.
pREZ URGED TO ElECT CHIEF INFO COMMISSIONER
New Delhi: RTI activists and former Information Commissioners on Thursday urged President Pranab Mukherjee to take immediate steps to appoint the Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission (CIC). In a letter to the President, the activists said that it is a matter of grave concern that the post of the Chief Information Commissioner in the CIC has been lying vacant since August 22, 2014.
Green panel regrets bypassing Ministry
New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal has expressed regret for not involving the Environment Ministry in finalising the national policy for controlling and preventing pollution resulting from burning of agricultural remnants in open fields. A bench headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar directed the Additional Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture to call a meeting comprising members of MoEF and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) within one week and finalise the draft national policy. The tribunal has listed the matter for hearing on Sep 25.

New Delhi: A sailor reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself on board warship INS Mysore off Mumbai coast on Thursday. The Navy has ordered court of inquiry to find out the cause of suicide and also informed the police, officials said. here.
