India to enhance Embassy security in Afghanistan
New Delhi: India has decided to enhance the security cover of its Embassy and consulates in Afghanistan by sanctioning deployment of 79 more ITBP commandos to guard the facilities in capital Kabul and elsewhere. The new measure has been taken in the backdrop of the August 3 suicide bomb attack near the main consulate complex in Jalalabad which killed 12 civilians. The upgrade in the security manpower — from the existing 219 commando trained troops of the ITBP — comes in the background of threats of possible terror attacks on Indian diplomats and other assets in Afghanistan.
BJP to raise syria issue in lok sabha today
New Delhi: Amid reports that an attack on Syria by the US is imminent, the BJP on Thursday said it will raise the issue in the lok Sabha on Friday as such an occurence is likely to have an adverse impact on the sizable number of Indians working in West Asia. Senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh is likely to raise this issue in the lower House on behalf of his party on Friday.

Kolkata: On the Gorkhaland issue, Mamata Banerjee said there would be no another division of Bengal. “We will not allow the division of Bengal at any cost” she said adding the “Centre’s dirty political game in Telengana provoked the movement in Darjeeling.” Attacking the GJM for breaking its promise and the GTA accord she said “they had asked to incorporate the term Gorkhaland in the agreementand we allowed it. We also transferred the departments — that theydemanded — to the GTA. Now they should have honoured their commitment and worked towards the development of the people of Darjeeling. But they also started playing their own nefarious game by inciting the people of the Hills. But their designs will never be successful as I will not allow a division of Bengal.”
42-yr-old strangled to death in farsh bazar
New Delhi: A 42-year-old woman was strangled to death at her residence in Farsh Bazar on Thursday afternoon. Her son has alleged that his father killed his mother as he was suspecting illicit relationship of her with someone else.
